I’m an interdisciplinary artist who specializes in oil painting, sculpture, and game design. Currently based in Missouri, USA. I graduated from the University of Missouri with two degrees one in art and the other in digital storytelling. I was originally planning to go into medicine so I have background in anatomy. Which now deeply affects the kind of art I make and how I depict the body. My work all relates back to the horrors of life and how I navigate the body and the functions within it.
Online I typically go by the name Goth but you can also call me Sun!
I am a collection of bile, blood, and bones.
Never feeling truly human or tied to a sense of gendered identity that’s expected of me.
My work is a chaotic cacophony of materials, textures, and experiences. Meant to reference the every shifting, never stagnant state of a mind in constant distress. Never able to rest when dealing with intense and intimate moments of derealization, dissociation, and the fetishization of these experiences from people who will only see me as a thing to be fixed. I’m drawn to the intersections between fiber arts, oil painting, and sculpture.
Where materials and processes meet to create moments of grotesque beauty. With silicone that squishes, and oozes, and bleeds from all sides yet still shimmers and draws the eye. While needles, knives and nails convey the aggressive, violent, nature of these emotions and reveal the filth in these acts of destruction. Working primarily through self portraiture as a way to confront myself and the audience with how I find comfort in the violence I subject myself to.
